NAMOLOH’S SON ALLEGES VICTIMISATION
Minister of Safety and Security Retired Major-General Charles Namoloh’s cop son Ngouabi has accused the commander of the internal investigation department of conspiring with fraud accused Antoine Mbok to scupper his chances of getting a promotion.
Warrant Officer Ngouabi Namoloh claims that Chief Inspector Esther Nangombe instructed Cameroonian-born businessman to open a case of unlawful arrest against him to jeopardise his chances of getting a promotion.
Allegations are that Namoloh ordered junior police officers last month to arrest Mbok at the Hosea Kutako International Airport under unclear circumstances.
Namoloh further accused Nangombe of reactivating a 2005 case in which he was charged for defeating and obstructing the course of justice.
Namoloh is alleged to have prevented a police officer from executing his duties at the Windhoek/ Okahandja roadblock on March 4 2005. He was also accused of insulting the unidentified police officer.
The Windhoek Observer understands that the charges stemming from the 2005 incident were later dropped in 2008 and brought back in 2011, withdrawn in 2013 and then brought back in 2014 again for reasons not known.
“The process of promotions has started and these actions by Nangombe will make it difficult for me to get a promotion,” Namoloh claimed this week.
He further accused Nangombe and another chief inspector, only identified as Beukes of “running the police force like their own company.”
“…the way they treat people here is not good. Her friends get promotion easily but some of us are targeted; it should not work like that,” Namoloh said.
Namoloh told the Windhoek Observer that Nangombe had told his colleagues in the police force that, “I will show him, he will not go anywhere while I am here.”
When contacted for comment, Nangombe said Mbok had come to her office with a written complaint claiming that Namoloh had instructed other police officers to handcuff him at the Hosea Kutako International Airport.
She said she is “tired” of Namoloh’s accusation because she has nothing against him.
“Look, Mbok came to my office with a written complaint about Namoloh that’s all. It was about him being detained at the airport after Namoloh allegedly instructed someone to handcuff him.
“I am tired of Namoloh running to the media about these types of things. I am not allowed to talk to the media but this time, I am angry. He must leave me alone because I have nothing against him.
“Now he accuses me of teaming up with Beukes, but I only went to Beukes’ office to drop a document there and we didn’t have any discussion,” she said.
Inspector-General, Lieutenant Sebastian Ndeitunga said he is surprised that Namoloh’s case is still going on after ten years.
“I know Nangombe and Namoloh very well, but I am not aware of the infighting that is going on between them.
“All I know is that Namoloh has a case that has been taking so many years that I do not understand why. I am shocked that after ten years, he is still being punished for the same thing. Was that case not dropped a longtime ago?” Ndeitunga quizzed.
This is not the first time that Namoloh has accused Nangombe of hampering his elevation in the police force.
Last year Namoloh accused Nangombe in the media of trying to prevent him from being promoted to the position he currently holds.
He claimed at the time that Nangombe had gone around saying that, “Namolohs are already rich, why do they need promotion?”
